There’s something incredibly romantic about Yosemite. Whether it’s the naturally beautiful foliage full of colors and textures, or the uniquely enchanting sunsets reflecting off world famous landmarks, Yosemite is the perfect venue for many couples who want their special day to be a little different.
Chris and Paula hired us to capture their elopement in Yosemite back in August. They live in Ireland, but they love to travel and felt that an elopement to a national park was the perfect setting for them to exchange vows.
Paula is a photographer herself, so it was really awesome for her to be on the other side of the camera and enjoy her day as a bride with her groom.
Although there are plenty of beautiful backdrops for weddings in Yosemite, Chris and Paula knew exactly where they wanted to exchange vows. We hiked one mile into Taft Point, a magnificent cliff overlook that provides one of the most spectacular views in the entire park. It was windy and quite the challenge, but the view at the top was worth every second.
We then made our way to Glacier Point, the best spot in the park for unforgettable views of Half Dome. The timing was perfect for a beautiful pink-hued sunset that made Chris and Paula’s day just a bit more magical.
Shooting in Yosemite, without the distractions of formalities usually found in traditional weddings, allowed us to really get to know Chris and Paula. For us as filmmakers and storytellers, we thrive on telling stories that are unique to each couple and Chris and Paula’s elopement in Yosemite allowed us to combine that with our love for beautiful cinematography.
There’s no other place on earth like Yosemite and we loved being a part of Chris and Paula’s special day.
